Course Overview:
After your five dives, you'll be more experienced, feel more comfortable in the water and simply
enjoy diving more because you better understand the underwater environment. All five dives may be
counted as the first dive of the corresponding specialty.
Prerequisites: To become an Advanced Open Water Diver,
you must be at least 12 years old and certified as an Open Water Diver or have an equivalent rating.
"Equivalency" is defined as proof of an entry-level scuba certification with a minimum of four open water
training dives.
Course Activities: You will perform a total of 5 dives under
the supervision of an instructor. You are required to perform two Adventure Dives, the Deep Adventure Dive
(a dive deeper than 60 feet) and Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive for certification. You can choose the
remaining 3 dives (for a total of 5 dives). You will read the appropriate chapter in the Adventures in Diving
Manual (included in course price) and complete the knowledge reviews located at the end of the chapter for each
dive that you perform. You will get to use your new knowledge for each type of dive on the dive performed under
the supervision of an instructor. (Note - not all dives are available at all dive sites)
