Open Water Diver Course - Confined Water DiveGeneral Information: The Open Water Diver Course is a course for beginners. We schedule one group class a month from March to October. Take a look at the information below about what you will do, what the class costs, how long it will take, what you need to start, and other things. We also offer 2-person private, and semi-private classes. Our group class pricing starts at $299 ($225 for eLearning) per person and includes most everything you will need for the class including scuba park entry fees for 3 days and 4 air fills for the lake. I provide soft drinks, snacks and sandwiches at the scuba park. You will have to provide your own personal dive gear of mask, fins, snorkel, and booties. You will need to purchase these items prior to the first confined water pool sessions. We would suggest you purchase these items from one of our Affiliate Dive Stores. Let us know and we can assist with renting a wetsuit if necessary.

We offer competitive pricing on our Open Water Diver Course (All-Inclusive). Click here to see a complete list of everything our Open Water Diver Course (All-Inclusive) course includes.

Open Water Diver Course - Confined Water DiveCourse Overview: The Open Water Diver Course is the course where you learn how to scuba dive.  As a certified Open Water Diver you have the freedom to dive with a buddy independent of a professional. What you will learn? You will learn about scuba diving including equipment care and diving techniques.

Prerequisites: Virtually anyone who is in good health, reasonably fit, and comfortable in the water can earn the Open Water Diver certification. You must be at least 10 years old prior to the start date of the class.  Divers between the ages of 10 and 14 earn the Jr. Open Water Diver Certification. Divers between the ages of 10 and 11 may only dive with a Professional, a certified parent or certified guardian to a maximum depth of 40 feet.

Course Activities: There are at least 2 classroom sessions, 5 confined water pool dives and 4 open water dives.
  • Classroom: You will need to read the entire Open Water Diver Manual (included in the course price) and watch the entire video/DVD (included in course price) prior to coming to the first classroom session. The classroom session will cover all 5 chapters (can be done in 2 sessions of 3 to 4 hours each). This portion of the course covered by PADI eLearning course.
  • Independent Study: Before you come to the first class meeting, read the entire Open Water Diver Manual, complete the knowledge reviews located at the end of each chapter and watch the entire video or DVD. You will need to contact us to get the manual and DVD (both included in course price). This portion of the course covered by PADI eLearning course.
  • Confined Water Dives: The 5 confined water dives are done in a pool or pool like conditions (can be done in 1 session of 5 to 8 hours each).
  • Open Water Dives: The 4 open water dives are done at an area lake/scuba park or on a dive trip (must be done over a 2 day period).
Open Water Diver Course - Confined Water DiveForms Required: Students need to complete the three (3) forms: Liability Release, Statement of Understanding, and Medical Statement prior to entering the water.

Materials/Equipment Required: Open Water Diver Manual and Video/DVD.  These items are included in the class price. Contact us to purchase. You will also need to purchase a mask, fins, snorkel and booties prior to the first class meeting.

Price of Course: $299 - All-Inclusive Group Class ($225.00 for eLearning). Group class price includes Open Water Crew Pak (Includes Open Water Diver Manual, DVD, eRDPml Imperial, Logbook) certification card, picture for certification card, 2 - classroom sessions, 5 confined water dives (includes park entry fees) and 4 open water dives (includes park entry fees).

Deposit: $85.00 - Cost of Materials.

Open Water Diver Course - Confined Water DiveLength of Course: Your time with us can be as little as two weekends. The time it takes for the independent study to read the entire Open Water Diver Manual, complete the knowledge reviews at the end of each chapter and watch the entire video/DVD is dependent upon each student. If a student has read the entire Open Water Diver Manual, completed the all knowledge reviews and watched the entire video/DVD prior to the first class meeting, the classroom and pool confined water dives can be completed on Saturday and Sunday of one weekend. Then the following weekend go to the lake on Saturday and Sunday for the open water dives. However, the programs are performance based which means that you proceed as you demonstrate mastery of the course skills. For example, you have to complete chapter one before going on to chapter two, and confined water dive one has to be completed before going on to confined water dive two, and open water dive one has to be completed before going on to open water dive two. This allows you to work at a pace that is comfortable for you. We have several options on how we conduct the program.

Class Dates: Group classes are conducted on Saturday and Sunday. We schedule one group class a month. The group class starts at 8:30 AM on Saturday and 8:30 AM on Sunday ( click to see classroom and confined water itinerary). The following weekend, we will meet at the lake on Saturday and Sunday at 9:00 AM to complete the open water dives (click to see open water itinerary). If the Saturday & Sunday schedule does not work for you, I have several options for you including semi-private and private classes.

How To Sign-Up: Call us at (407) 658-4797 or you can sign up for the course online. You can come by and pick up the materials or we can have them delivered to your home or office.

Type of Classes: We offer the following types of classes: (1) Group Classes (for those that want to or don't mind taking the class  with others) (2) Make your own Group (for 4 or more that want to take the class together) (3) Semi-Private for Two Persons (4) Semi-private for One Person (5) Deluxe Two Person Private and Deluxe One Person Private and Referrals.
