Course Overview:
In the CPR course you will learn Scene Assessment, Primary Assessment, Rescue Breathing, Adult CPR and
Shock Management. In the First Aid course you will learn care for injuries or illnesses that are
not immediately life threatening. In the Secondary Care course you learn Bandaging and Splints for
Dislocation and Fractures. Care for Children is integrated into each course.
Prerequisites:
No diver certification required. No minimum age.
Course
Activities:
Read the entire book and watch the DVD for each of the CPR, First Aid and Care for Children courses
prior to coming to class. In class, we will go over the knowledge reviews for each course. You will
participate in hands-on skill practice and a skills scenario workshop. There is a 35-question exam for
the CPR course, a 10-question exam for the First Aid course and a 15-question exam for the Care for
Children course. In the CPR Course, you will learn about Scene Assessment, Barrier Use, Primary Assessment,
Rescue Breathing, One Rescuer, Adult CPR, Serious Bleeding Management, Shock Management and Spinal Injury
Management. Additional and recommended skills include Automated External Defibrillator (AED) using an AED
Trainer, Conscious Choking Adult and Emergency Oxygen Use through orientation of oxygen equipment. In the
First Aid Course, you will lean about injuries or illnesses that are not immediately life threatening or
when local EMS is unavailable or delayed. You will focus on secondary assessment and first aid through
knowledge development, skill development and realistic scenario practice. The Secondary Care (first aid)
skills are Injury Assessment, Illness Assessment, Bandaging and Splint for Dislocation and Fractures.
Care for Children is integrated into each course.
- Classroom:
There is one classroom session. The classroom session will cover each of the chapters,
review your knowledge review answers and prepare you for each of the realistic scenario practices.
- Independent Study:
Before you come to class you need to read the manual for each of the CPR/First Aid and Care for Children courses,
complete the knowledge reviews located in each manual and watch the video for each of CPR/First Aid and
Care for Children courses prior to the first class meeting. You will need to turn in the knowledge reviews prior
to certification.
- Open Water Dives:
This is a non-diving specialty.

Manuals for Primary & Secondary Care, CPR & AED, and Care for Children (included in course price) and
Video/DVD (recommended - $50.00). Includes manuals for each course, Training Bandage Pack and Pocket Mask.

$149.00 - Price includes everything you will need for the course: Classroom sessions, Manuals
for Primary & Secondary Care, CPR & AED, and Care for Children, Bandage Training Pak, Pocket Mask, and
Certification Card.

$80 - Costs of Materials.
Length of Course:
If you have read all the manuals, completed the all the knowledge reviews and watched the
all the videos prior to coming to class, the classroom session should take approximately 4 - 6
hours depending upon class size.
