| UPGRADE FROM BASIC DIVER TO OPEN WATER DIVER |
General Information:
PADI Basic Diver - There used to be two entry levels of divers. One was the Basic Diver and the
other the Open Water Diver. The difference between the two certifications was that while the Basic
Diver met the same classroom and confined water pool dive requirements as the Open Water Diver
certification, the Basic Diver certification required only two open water dives. The only restriction
for the Basic Diver certification at the time was to dive with an alternate air source.
