Course Overview:
The AWARE - Coral Reef Conservation Specialty course teaches divers, snorkelers and non-divers
about the vital role of coral reefs in the marine environment. The course also familiarizes
participants with the current state of the world's coral reefs and how they can help.
Prerequisites:
An interest in the aquatic world. You do not have to be a certified diver and there is no age requirement.
Course Activities:
Read Chapter 4 out of the A.W.A.R.E. - "Our World Our Water" manual. You will watch a short video
and complete a knowledge review in class.
- Classroom: We will review Chapter 4 of the A.W.A.R.E. - "Our World
Our Water" manual. You will watch a short video and complete a knowledge review in class.
- Independent Study: You will read Chapter 4 of the A.W.A.R.E. - "Our World
Our Water" manual.
- Open Water Dives: This is a non-diving specialty.

Materials/Equipment Required:
The A.W.A.R.E. - "Our World Our Water" manual (included in the price of course).
Price of Course:
$59 - price includes classroom session, The A.W.A.R.E. - "Our World Our Water" manual,
certification card, picture for certification card.
Deposit:
$25 - Cost of Materials.
Length of Course:
If you have read Chapter 4 in the AWARE - "Our World Our Water" manual, completed the knowledge review and watched the
entire video prior to coming to class then the classroom session will last between 1.0 - 1.5 hours depending upon class size.
Course Dates: This specialty course is offered on any lake weekend or any dive trip.
